Tiny Format, Massive Sound

Each earphone measures 0.79 x 0.67 x 0.62 inches (20 x 17 x 15.8 mm) and weighs only 0.12 oz (3.5 grams). That’s roughly the dimension of a pear-shaped marble with the circumference of a penny at its widest spot. It’s tiny. Yet Earin managed to stuff these earbuds with features that appear to be challenging for models twice the size.

The Earin A-3 feature 14.3 mm dynamic drivers. Earin says the speakers “move 20% more air than competitor brands, creating a more crisp and clean sound with deeper base.”

The A-3 support AAc, aptX, and aptX low latency audio codecs, which further underlines the company’s commitment to superior sound quality. Competitors blindly follow Apple AirPods specs and alienate Android-using audiophiles by failing to support aptX audio codecs.

The low latency codecs facilitate smooth audio streaming. Two voice pick-up units and two Knowles microphones, paired with ambient noise reduction algorithms, ensure clear speech while you’re on a call. On the other hand, the open design facilitates natural ambient awareness.

Finally, the Earin A-3 sport an IP52 rating, making them sweat, splash, and dust resistant.

Innovation in a Nutshell

Earin didn’t skimp on the sound, but they also didn’t stop there. Touch sensors let you control music and calls, while proximity sensors let the earphones go into auto sleep five minutes after you take them out of your ears or the charging case.

Incorporating two types of sensors in each earbud, a microphone and an accelerometer, is what helped them remove the “stem.” What’s truly innovative, however, is that they eliminated the need to identify a right or left earbud. The earbuds automatically detect which ear you put them in.

Something’s gotta give and in this case, it’s the lack of ANC and battery life. However, at up to five hours per charge and up to 30 hours total with the charging case, the Earin look just fine next to other AirPods competitors, like the recently announced Belkin Soundform Freedom TWS Earbuds. In fact, given their other specs, they look stellar. The case supports Qi wireless charging and comes with a USB-C port.
